The Lupus Society of Alberta is a non-profit charity, incorporated in 1973, and is a grassroots, volunteer driven organization. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is an auto-immune disease which affects thousands of Canadians.  The extent of damage that lupus can cause varies greatly, as can the symptoms.  Treatment is highly individualized and there is no cure. The Society is devoted to meeting the needs of people touched by lupus through education, support, and research.

Kelly Mingo was a devoted wife, a wonderful mother of 2 young boys, William age 7 and Spencer age 2 1/2 and a truly outstanding woman. She was also my best friend. She lived everyday of her life with a smile, never complaining about the pain that she was in, always helping everyone around her. Her Lupas took the best of her and at the age of 32 she was taken from us. Although her life ended way too soon, her memory lives strong. I know that Kelly would have wanted us to keep on educating others about her disease. Through her fund we will both educate others and donate to the research to help find a cure.
